An initial consultation and diagnosis
takes between 1 and 2 hours. A
comprehensive case history is taken
to identify the underlying patterns of
disharmony so the most effective
treatment can be given. You will be
asked about your current symptoms,
medical history, diet, sleeping patterns
and emotional wellbeing.

The acupuncturist will also feel your
pulses on both wrists to discover how
the energies are flowing in the body.
Looking at the structure, colour and
coating of the tongue also gives a
good guide to your physical health.
Once all this information has been gathered a treatment strategy can be formulated.

Subsequent treatments last between 45 minutes
to one hour. Each treatment involves the
insertion of very fine, pre-steralised disopsable needles into carefully selected points so as to
rectify the imbalances diagnosed. The
acupuncturist gently inserts the needles just
beneath the skin's surface. The sensation varies
from person to person. You may feel nothing at
all or perhaps a dull ache or a tingling sensation
which only lasts for a few seconds. During
treatment patients often experience a pleasant
feeling of calm and relaxation.
Every patient is different and acupuncture treatments are unique to each individual, usually at first, treatments are weekly and then spaced out when the symptoms have improved.
